There is something that you can easily do that will benefit your skin, your hair, your clothing, and the environment. And you can do all that by changing the soap and cleaning products you buy and use. By using pure natural soap, you will no longer be filling your drains and sewers with chemical waste. And you won't be absorbing these chemicals through your skin any more either!
So what can we do to stop this mindless contamination of the earth and our bodies? On the market today, in stores, health food shops, and online, there are hundreds of safe, healthful soap products (and even available kits that easily allow you to make your own soaps at home).

You can find natural soaps in liquid, bars, and powders with ingredients such as aloe vera, glycerin, olive oil, coconut oil...color and chemical free, and scented with natural herbs and oils. But always check the ingredients list on the product. You may find something labeled "natural" in a local chain supermarket, but more often than not, you will find chemical additives used to scent, color and preserve the product. You want a pure natural soap that has none of these chemical additives!
Or perhaps you would like to try something entirely different. Have you ever heard of soap nuts? Native to southern Asia, mostly India and Nepal, they are small fruits that resemble berries, and that require a warm and humid climate. This yellow/brown fruit has a hard shell, like most nuts do. The saponins in this fruit makes the nuts a very good alternative to chemical cleaning products, for everything from dishes and laundry to cleaning your house.
To use this pure natural soap to do your laundry, simply place four to six of the shells into a small muslin or cheesecloth sack and throw it in the washer with your clothes. You will not need a fabric softener or bleach, will not fade your colors, and, while it is basically unscented, will remove dirt and smells from your clothing. This makes it a terrific product for people with detergent or perfume allergies!
Also use soap nuts for bathing and washing your hair. They will protect you from infections, smooth and soften the skin, and leave your hair feeling thicker and shinier. This can also help to rid you of dandruff and lice...great because it is completely safe for kids and pets.
General house cleaning can be safely done by making a solution of soap nuts and water. A few drops added to your rinse water will make your car or windows shine. A little of the powder in a bowl of water gives you your dish cleaning product.! It can even be used to clean and detoxify food products.
Soap nuts may not be the product you are looking for, but switching to some form of pure natural soap is something all of us should be doing. We need to stop soaking in chemicals, ingesting them, and cleaning with them, if we want to have a safe and healthy environment for future generations. As a result of switching, your skin will improve, your clothes will last longer, and your house, air, and waterways will be cleaner.

This is really great. I have been trying to go green in most of the products I consume and so far this has made me healthier and notice that my skin looks great as well with the soaps I use. I will also try to check the products you’ve mentioned here.

There is a huge movement toward ‘natural’ products of all descriptions. Of them all, the most important would be those that would be applied directly to our bodies. Thank you for this opportunity to express our opinion in order to educate others.
